Welcome!

Grupo Folklórico Los Mejicas is a Mexican folkloric dance group from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Currently celebrating our 52nd anniversary, we are one of the oldest campus organizations on campus. Dedicated to teaching and performing the regional music, dances and traditions of Mexico, Los Mejicas fosters an appreciation for the beauty and diversity of Mexican culture.

Los Mejicas is proud to be a student-run and student-directed dance troupe compromised of students and alums. Membership in Los Mejicas is open to students of all ethnic backgrounds and from all disciplines and we welcome both new and experienced dancers. New repertoires are learned each year through participation in various dance conferences at state and national level. The group invites alums and other guest dance instructors from neighboring groups to teach new material.

Students who wish to earn credit may enroll in the Music 12B class during Fall or Winter quarters. Classes are held on Tuesdays: 7:30-9:30pm, Fridays: 5:30-8:30pm, and Sundays: 12-3pm.
